Lazaroo – Saturday, January 22, 2011

Jan 22, 2011 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in utter humility:

“Vashti is never again to enter the presence of King Xerxes.”
(Esther 1:19)

The sheer audacity of such a pronouncement, Jesus!
We human beings are something else, aren’t we?

Queen Vashti refuses to be put on display in front of her husband’s drunken guests

and immediately the full force of their disapproval comes crashing down on her.

The king’s advisers rise up on their hind legs
rustle their designer robes

and strip Vashti of her royalty.

They imagine they are exercising their authority.

They aren’t.

This is all You.

You’re moving one queen out
so another can take her place –

the one You have chosen to rescue Your people
even before the events have occurred
that will make it necessary for them to be rescued.

This is the magnitude

the foresight
the majesty
the power

of the God I serve.
