Sep 03, 2011 I Lazaroo.

Seek Godly courage, as you pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo:

“…the men did their best to row back to land. But they could not, for the sea grew even wilder than before.”
(Jonah 1:13)

Each time I launch a new project or try something different

I know something like this might happen to me, Jesus.

Somewhere in the back of my mind, I’m aware it’s a distinct possibility.

I know I can get in over my head
a storm can suddenly rise up –

something too big for me to overcome.

So why do I take the risk and try it anyway?

Partly out of denial, I guess –
I tell myself nothing all that bad will happen to me.

But that’s not the primary source of my courage.

You are.

I know if I attempt something for You –
something way too big for my britches –

that even if it blows my ship to smithereens

You’ll get me back to shore.

I am sorry for your loss bro. I can understand a little of what you’re going through. 3 weeks ago my wife was hit by a car and had her leg run over. It required surgery and then rest and recovery. I have been paddling on my own with 4 kids and a recovering wife while trying to maintain 2 jobs. In the middle of it all I ended up with an allergic reaction to some antibiotics. It required urgent care and and IV of steroids. Talk about paddling while the storm is getting wilder than before. My verse for this storm has been from Psalm 13. Especially V.3&5, ‘give light to my eyes…for I trust in Your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in Your salvation.’ Hang in there bro! To God be the glory!

In the midst of burying my brother, selling our home and the ensuing move from where we live to where we’re going, it’s this peace in the Lord that gets us through. Praise the Lord Jesus Christ for he is our anchor in life. In him alone we trust to get us safely to the shore.
