Lazaroo – Sunday, August 1, 2010

Aug 01, 2010 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in deepest gratitude:

“This is what the LORD says: “For three sins of Ammon, even for four, I will not turn back my wrath. Because he ripped open the pregnant women of Gilead in order to extend his borders…”
(Amos 1:13)

I can hardly bear to read those words, Jesus.

How could there have existed a leader so twisted

that he would order such a thing done to those most deserving of protection
in order to crush the spirits of the people he had conquered?

Surely You’ve reserved a place in the darkest dungeons of hottest hell
for the men who carried out such an order
and for the leader who ordered it done.

Some sins are too depraved to forgive

including mine.

But You forgive them anyway –

the worst, the least and every sin in-between –

when in true sorrow I – and they – lay our crimes

at the foot of Your cross.
