Lazaroo – Sunday, July 5, 2009

Jul 05, 2009 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in a spirit of grateful submission:

“The LORD is slow to anger.”
(Nahum 1:3)

Oh, Jesus!

Where would I be if You weren’t slow to anger?

Without hope.

That’s where I’d be.

Or worse.

I’d already be getting what my sins deserve.

Instead, You’ve given me another chance.

And another.

And another.

And another.

And another.

And another.

But while I’m working on my second billionth chance, I have to wonder:

Am I as slow to anger with others as You are with me?

Wow.

I’m not even close, am I?

Well, that’s not good enough. Something tells me the surest way for me to finally run out of chances with You…

…is to be unwilling to give that many chances to others.

O God.

Help me be slow.

Really, really, really slow

to anger.

This is especially true when the world tell you that you don’t get angry enough for the sake of justice. Lord, help me focus on YOUR justice instead the “justice” that I deem on my own.
