Lazaroo – Sunday, May 15, 2011

May 15, 2011 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in baffled gratitude:

“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
(1 Corinthians 1:18)

This is so frustrating, Jesus!

for someone who unquestionably needs You in his life
to roll his eyes at the mere mention of Your Name.

“Anything but that!” I can almost see him thinking…

unable to fathom that nothing but “that” –
nothing but You! – can fill the gaping hole in his soul.

Why is it that so many of those who need You most

want You least?

I’m also one of those who needs You most

but oh, how I want You! –
more now, than ever.

What a stunning, humbling contrast.

Both of us desperately need You in our lives

need Your healing touch
need Your guidance

but only one of us knows it

me.

” What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! For he says to Moses, ” I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.” Romans 9:14-15
The power of the cross makes perfect sense to those God has had compassion on, however, it is foolishness to those he has hardened. Do I understand God’s reasoning? No, but I count myself among those who desperately need His healing touch, loving and chastising guidance and wisdom that only He can bless me with. “Oh the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgements, and his paths beyond tracing out!” Romans 11:33
