I can’t help but agree, Jesus.

You’ve taught me not to stick my head in the sand and pretend things are better than they are

no matter how brutal the reality.

What is, is.

Everywhere I look, I see

some good person struggling just to make ends meet
while some lowlife is living it up, seemingly without a care in the world.

Here’s the question my doubting friends ask –

which, I have to confess, sometimes eats at me, too:

If You are

All-Loving
All-Knowing
All-Powerful

why don’t You just step in and

instantly reward every good person?
punish every wrongdoer on the spot?

Unless…

this outrageous freedom of choice You’re giving us –

along with its awful consequences! –

is the only way we can discover

Your way is best.
