Lazaroo – Thursday, July 23, 2009

Jul 23, 2009 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in sober humility:

“Now God has paid me back for what I did to them.”
(Judges 1:7)

These words fill me with horror, LORD.

By them, You remind me that every wrong I have ever done anyone – intentionally or unintentionally – was a sin against You.

Revenge belongs to You alone.

You have every right to pay me back for my lifetime of sin.

But that’s not what You want!

You long to erase the ugliness of my past.

Your heart aches to remove my sins from me as far as the east is from the west…

…if only I confess them to You.

O Jesus!

I repent!
I am so sorry!
I hate what I have done!
If only I could – I would go back and refuse to commit my sins against others…
…and against You.

Forgive me!

And please…do not repay me as my sins deserve.

I never cease to be amazed at how something as seemingly natural as my sins result in something as unnatural as death and separation from my Creator, and how seemingly unnatural is the only “cure” for my sinfulness.
