Lazaroo – Thursday, July 7, 2011

Jul 07, 2011 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in humble adoration:

“…the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground…”
(Genesis 2:7)

That explains a lot, Jesus.

You made me out of dirt.

No doubt it was good dirt

first-quality dirt
the finest dirt in the garden

but dirt nonetheless.

That’s how I act sometimes –

like the dirt I was made from.

Did I say “sometimes?”

I’m being rather generous to myself today.

I could blame my substandard behavior on the material You used to make me…

but I’d be missing the point, wouldn’t I?

The quality of the work doesn’t depend on the material the artist chooses

it depends solely on the skill of the artist.

You are my artist!

No one is Your equal.

Compared to You

Michelangelo was a clumsy finger painter.

You are the one who

formed me in my mother’s womb.

I am a work of art.

Genesis 1:26; Psalms 139:13-15; Deuteronomy 32:6; Ecclesiastes 12:1; Matthew 19:4-6; Romans 1:25; Romans 3:10-24; Colossians 3:9-10; 1 Peter 4:19

What is Lazaroo?

Pastor Steve, this reminds me of a poem I wrote back in 1996 coming home from work one evening the sun was behind a cloud and it was sliverlined it really inspired me to go home and write this poem enclosed.
    “How Beautifully Do You Paint”
Dear God how beautifully do you paint,
Your sunrises and your sunsets are different everyone.
On Spring mornings, your dewy greenery against the bright colors of the sunrising sky.
On summer eves, the beautiful heart warming golden edges of the clouds that reflect colorful painted hues from the setting sun.
Dear God, how beautifully do you paint!
Every mountain is a different height, a different beauty, a different form. The stars, the planets, the sun , the moon, are all of your crafts.
Oh, how you speak to us through your wonderful works of art!
The vivid colors of the rainbows, the soothing sound of the rain, the beauty of the rolling oceans.
Dear God how beautifully do you paint!
All the plants, the trees of different shades of green.
The flowers finger painted into hundreds of forms and colors.
The waters- babbling brooks, crooked creeks, running rivers, and falling waterfalls.
Dear God how beautifully do you paint!
These are only a few of your pictures. You have the finest brushes and the best canvas. It’s no wonder how you paint so beautifully…
But then you are the “Great Creator” who handcrafted us.
    Amen Jeane Almon, 5/1/96

Pastor Steve, another wonderfully written gem that makes me smile. Mankind .. Gods masterpiece for sure .. but how mankind treats, uses or appreciates the masterpiece and praises ..The Artist .. He leaves up to us. (although He has left us an excellent instruction guide)

I think you hit pay dirt on this prayer, love it … skillfully and creatively thought through and articulated and I agree with your conclusion … Eph 2:8-10.
