Lazaroo – Thursday, June 30, 2011

Jun 30, 2011 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in solemn trust:

“Pass on in nakedness and shame, you who live in Shaphir.”
(Micah 1:11)

I’ve spent some time in Shaphir, Jesus –

having to pass in front of others in nakedness and shame.

Sometimes it’s been my fault
something I’ve brought on myself
leaving me without excuse.

Everybody knew I was getting what I deserved

no way to hide
no excuse I could offer.

I had to take my bitter medicine
choke it down for as long as it lasted.

At other times it wasn’t my fault –
at least, I don’t think it was.

Because of my connection to somebody else –

a relative
friend
coworker
church member
fellow citizen

their nakedness and shame became mine.

Out of love and loyalty
or because I had no choice

I walked it with them.

Either way, I hate the town of Shaphir

except for this priceless gift it brings all who go there:

humility.

Shaphir – their shame and nakedness became mine and others had to experience that shame also, we had no way out … I guess that is called collateral damage.
I don’t think anyone plans to step into Shaphir but many do. Obedience in the Word keeps us and those we love from our own sinful nature and Satan’s devious plans. But God will bring His children through .. the guilty who walked into Shaphir and those who just happen to be near .. we just need to call out to God and He will rescue, strengthen, an yes humble us.
