“When the time drew near for David to die…”
(1 Kings 2:1)

There is a time, isn’t there, Jesus?

Not only for David
but also for me.

The day of my death is already known to You.

All the days ordained for me were written in Your book

before one of them came to be.

I admit it – knowing that messes with my mind, LORD.

On the one hand, it’s unnerving
to realize there’s not one thing I can do
to miss that appointment –

unless I’m living on earth on that electrifying day

when You come down from heaven with a loud command
with the voice of the archangel and the trumpet call of God

and I’m suddenly caught up in the clouds
with all the other believers.

But come to think of it…

either way, I won’t miss that day!

If I die first…

I’ll rise first.
