Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in confident humility:

“The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law.”
(Mark 1:22)

You weren’t faking it, Jesus.

You taught them with authority
because all authority in heaven and earth is given to You.

When You showed them the way
it took them straight to their destination

because You Are the way.

Everything You taught them
was true to the bone

because You Are the truth.

When You offered them eternal life
Your offer was good

because You Are the life.

You knew it.

They knew it

whether they wanted to acknowledge it or not.

I, on the other hand am not

the way
the truth
the life.

I’m a dirty, rotten sinner

saved not by any good I have done
nor evil I’ve rejected

but solely by Your amazing grace.

My only authority

comes from You.
