Jul 02, 2013 I Lazaroo.

Open your heart and offer the words of this Lazaroo aloud to God:

“In my distress I called to the LORD…”
(Jonah 2:2)

I always try to thank You, Jesus…

when I can tell You’ve just helped me.

But I suspect I spend more time begging for help

than I do thanking You for it.

I wonder if my shortchanging the thanksgiving due You
has anything to do with how often I cry out for You to rescue me?

I’m not at all suggesting that You punish me with trouble
just because I don’t go on and on in gratitude to You.

I guess what I’m asking is…

does my failure to cultivate an attitude of gratitude
impoverish my faith?

If I spent more time thanking You for what You’ve done

would I relax a little more when trouble comes?

Would I be more likely to step back with a smile
knowing that just like all the other times…

You’ve got this.

  1. Stephen Schwambach Says:

Tamela, you’re speaking of my father, Pastor R. R. Schwambach. He has continued his daily Dial-a-Prayer ministry since 1955. We have been told by those who keep track of such things that it is the oldest and longest Dial-a-Prayer in the world. However, he has been ill for several months, now, and it has affected his voice. He has asked me to fill in for him until he is able to return. Thank you so much for asking about him. He would appreciate your prayers.
