Lazaroo – Tuesday, September 1, 2009

Sep 01, 2009 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with bottomless trust:

“The king would then have my head because of you.”
(Daniel 1:10)

I don’t usually face pressure this extreme, Jesus.

Most of the people I displease don’t have the authority to behead me.

Thanks for this reminder.

All too often, my fears about how others might react are blown way out of proportion.

Though it kills me to admit it –

the opinions of others
matter way too much to me.

You know I’m not talking about being considerate. That’s something You want me to be.

I’m talking about being afraid of others –

afraid of what they’ll think
afraid of what they’ll say
afraid of what they’ll do

afraid of how they’ll feel toward me

if I do the right thing

the thing You want me to do

or not do.

Great God in heaven:

Take this people-fearing spirit away from me!

In Jesus’ Name.

I wonder how common this is. Peer pressure never really goes away, does it? It just takes different forms.
