Lazaroo – Wednesday, April 7, 2010
Apr 07, 2010 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with deep longing:
“The Israelites are to set up their tents by divisions, each man in his own camp under his own standard.”
(Numbers 1:52)
There’s something about those words that sounds so good, Jesus
although not so much living in tents for an extended period of time!
Maybe it’s the sense of belonging.
“Each person under
his own camp…
his own standard.”
Families are supposed to give us that.
So are clubs, workplaces, neighborhoods, churches.
Sometimes they do.
But at other times, they fall short.
Way short.
We human beings never quite live up to Your ideal.
We try. We mean well.
Most of the time.
But then sin enters
pride
anger
politics
and suddenly, it all breaks down.
We withdraw from each other
wounded
suspicious
less likely in the future to trust quite so much.
Please help me forgive.
Deliver me from
bitterness
cynicism.
And come quickly, LORD Jesus!

…and, Lord, help me (us) to never be the offender, the wounder, the one who embitters. Instead let me, like Barnabus, be “the son of encouragement.”
