Lazaroo – Wednesday, July 29, 2009

Jul 29, 2009 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in stunned, humble confession:

“Your own mouth testified against you.”
(2 Samuel 1:16)

My mouth has got me into a lot of trouble, Jesus.

I’ve said things I shouldn’t have said.

I’ve failed to speak when I should have raised my voice.

I’ve worded things harshly, instead of kindly.

I’ve cursed in anger, when I should have bitten my tongue.

I’ve criticized others, when I should have built them up.

I’ve made promises that have gone unfulfilled.

I’ve boasted of “my” accomplishments in vain attempts to make others think more highly of me than they ought.

O God!

Please deliver me from the terrible trap of my tongue!

But there is one boast above all that I will never regret:

And that is in Your cross, through which these sins and this entire, corrupt world have been crucified to me…

…and I – please God, make it so! – have been crucified to them.
