Lazaroo – Wednesday, June 15, 2011
Jun 15, 2011 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in relaxed, deep contentment:
“I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD sustains me.”
(Psalms 3:5)
I need my sleep, Jesus.
But then, You know that.
You made me this way.
Marvelous things happen when You give me great sleep!
My brain goes into high gear
racing to process all the events of the previous day
sorting and organizing to get me ready to face a new day.
The muscles in my body finally get to relax
go limp
rebuild, renew, restore.
I may go to bed feeling grouchy, confused, discouraged…
but when You give me a great sleep experience
I wake with a new attitude
new hope
new energy
I feel like, “I can do this!”
There are even times
I awake with Your answer
to the dilemma that was facing me
when I closed my eyes only hours before.
O God.
Please.
I need that gift of sleep.

What an awesome truth Steve! Of all God’s gifts to us, great sleep is one that we take for granted too easily. I don’t have to go many days without “good” sleep (let alone great sleep) without making some stupid move. Praise the Lord for His forgiveness and sustenance. Praise the Lord for the gift of great sleep!
