Lazaroo – Wednesday, March 7, 2012
Mar 07, 2012 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with pedal-to-the-metal commitment:
“…if you do these things you will never fall…”
(2 Peter 1:10)
That’s a bodacious promise, Jesus.
Maybe I’d better take a closer look at these “things.”
You’re telling me to make every effort to add to my faith –
goodness
and to goodness, knowledge
and to knowledge, self-control
and to self-control, perseverance
and to perseverance, godliness
and to godliness, brotherly kindness
and to brotherly kindness, love.
Gotcha.
Tall order…
but what a payoff:
If I do these things, I’ll never fall.
What can I say?
I don’t want to fall.
I’ve seen other people do that.
Not pretty.
Well, okay –
Actually…I’ve done my own share of falling.
It was no fun
It set me way back
I’m still trying to make up for lost time.
So if my faith in You could use some goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness and love…
guess I’d better get cracking.

Not that salvation can be obtained by works, for “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness…” (2 Peter 1:3). Yet, it certainly involves some hard work.
