Lazaroo – Wednesday, May 26, 2010

May 26, 2010 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in sharp awareness:

“Mourn like a virgin in sackcloth grieving for the husband of her youth.”
(Joel 1:8)

The word, “virgin” strikes me, Jesus.

This prophet isn’t telling Your people to mourn like a young widow.

He’s telling them to mourn like a young woman who lost her fiancé

before she ever had the chance to give him her love
or receive his.

That’s no small loss.

It isn’t the kind of thing a person can get over in a day

a month
a year

or a lifetime.

It’s the loss of a stillborn baby girl’s mom

who never got to go shopping with her daughter

It’s the loss of a wayward son’s dad

who never got to see his son fulfill the bright promise of his future.

It’s anything I’ve ever wanted so bad I could taste it

that never touched my lips.

I can mourn like that

and do.

That’s right Sam! We are here to learn from our mistakes in order to be better. I truly believe that is why God made us.
