“Solomon son of David established himself firmly over his kingdom, for the LORD his God was with him and made him exceedingly great.”
(2 Chronicles 1:1)

LORD, You did this for Solomon in spite of his past and his future.

His father committed adultery with Solomon’s mother and married her only after killing her husband.  You could have refused to bless any child that came from that relationship.

Instead, You lavished Your favor on Solomon, even though You knew he would one day blatantly disobey You and turn his back on You to follow other gods.

The magnitude of Your love is staggering!

How can You deliberately be so good to someone You know will be so bad to You?

Oh, Jesus.

That is exactly the depth of love You’re showing me right now.

May I never, ever, ever turn my back on You.

God’s love and mercy transcends anything we will ever understand. I think of Peter denying Him three times. If we could all love so unconditionally!
