“The Lord Jesus Christ gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age.”
(Galatians 1:3-4)

Sometimes I forget why You paid my sins on the cross, Jesus:

Rescue.

When I feel strong, I’m tempted to think I can rescue myself.  When I’m having a good time, I don’t particularly want to be rescued.

It is only when I feel weak, sick, hurt, unloved, overwhelmed, that I get a glimpse of how badly I need You to rescue me from the evil of this age.

Thank You for the infinitely better world You are even now preparing for me!

Please forgive me for not longing for heaven as passionately as I should.  You alone know when to lift me from this earth.

By faith alone I dare to say:  When that moment arrives…

Rescue me.
