Be strong and very courageous.”
 (Joshua 1:7)

LORD, You are my strength.  When genuine courage rises within me, I know it comes from You.

But Your command is clear:  You expect me to exercise whatever strength You give me.  It is my responsibility to act with the level of courage You provide.

So why are there times when I feel weak and afraid, not strong and courageous?

I know You would never expect me to be something I’m not.

O Jesus!

Please give me the faith to step out in obedience, in spite of my doubt-filled emotions!

… and in so doing, to discover the strong, courageous person You have made me to be.

Steve: That’s okay. I knew where to find it.

One of the biggest things about courage and fear is getting our priorities straight. Emotions are the spice of our existence, but it isn’t the main course. I often have to tell myself to concentrate on what I know, rather than what I feel.
