Lazaroo – Wednesday, November 16, 2009

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with mounting joy:

“…do what you ought to do…”
(Philemon 1:8)

Doing what I ought to do can be so tough, Jesus!

But the moment I make that decision

I’ve won my biggest battle.

Oh, sure. There will be many battles to follow…

but none like the first –
the one I have to fight

with me.

To once again surrender my will

to Your will
Your way
You

even when it feels counterintuitive
even when it looks like it’s going to cost me

big time.

Once I win that battle, the rest of it’s a piece of cake.

The battles that follow may be painful
may go on for a long, long, long time

but once I’ve decided to do what I ought to do

I know You’re pleased with me.

I know if I stay the course

You’ll make it all work out.

And at the core of me…

I’m content.

So thankful for this past Sunday’s message combined with this prayer from this passage along with my personal Bible study in the last chapters of Hebrews this week. As strenuous and difficult as these struggles and instructions can be, in the end, there is nothing like it in the world and I love that God works on me like this. I pray for the strength and grace to never trade these rimes ans wncounters with Him for anything in this world.
