Lazaroo – Tuesday, May 12, 2009

“Take a census of the whole Israelite community by their clans and families, listing every man by name, one by one.”
(Numbers 1:2)

My government counts me because they want to tax me.

You count me because You care.

About me.

That’s so hard for me to grasp!  You have billions of people to keep track of.

And yet…You focus on me with the tender intimacy of a loving Father with His only child.

Sometimes when You and I are alone together like this…

…You make me feel as though I am the only person in the world.

But against the backdrop of history…the eons of time…I’m no more than a single breath…my entire lifetime a fleeting shadow.

Why do You care so much about me?

I can’t even begin to answer that question, Jesus.  It makes absolutely no sense…

…except for your fathomless, mysterious, incomparable –

               Love.

Ken and Jeff…you’ve made me think of Jesus’ words: “I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” (Mark 10:15)
