Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in hallowed awe:
“Now David had brought up the ark of God…to the place he had prepared for it.”
(2 Chronicles 1:4)
It would have given me goose bumps to be there on that day, Jesus.
To know that lying inside that ark were the two stone tablets on which You wrote the Ten Commandments.
To know it was there You met with Moses and let him hear Your voice.
To know it was through the ark that You
blessed Your people
answered their questions
led them where You wanted them to go
killed them if they touched it or looked inside
I wouldn’t have dared come near Your ark.
What a stunning reversal to know that now, through the cross, You have made a new covenant with me…
invite me to approach Your throne of grace with confidence…
and draw near – so very near – to You.

Thanks, Steve, for making the ark of the covenant and Jesus so much more real to me and others. I am a “visual” type person, and I could “picture” what you were saying. And, yes, I am so grateful I can “draw near-so very near” because of Jesus.
