Lazaroo – Sunday, May 17, 2009

“The gospel [God] promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures.”
(Romans 1:2)

There’s nothing new about Your good news, is there, Jesus?

It’s ancient.

Even before You gave Moses the Law, You told us something better was on the way.

After that – while we were discovering firsthand that we couldn’t live up to Your standard no matter how hard we tried – You told us to hang on.  Relief would soon be here.

And then You came.

You showed us how to live…and how to die.

But at the terrible end of that dark day on the cross when You cried out, “It is finished!”

It was.

The promise You made to the first human beings who had just sinned their first sin was finally fulfilled.

And now, thank God!

Because of my faith in You and You alone…

I am free!
