“Why were you not afraid to lift your hand to destroy the Lord’s anointed?”
(2 Samuel 1:14)

LORD, You know I live in a world that is largely ignorant of the fact that You anoint leaders of nations,  along with prophets, apostles – even all Christians – to do Your holy work.

I confess I seldom think about Your repeated, strong warnings to treat such people with special respect, even when they themselves are a disgrace to the office they hold.

Please, Holy Spirit:  Remind me of this truth!

I don’t want to force You to punish me because of my careless words or actions.

Jesus, rise up within me in holy fear, the next time I start to lift my hand or my mouth …

…against someone You have anointed.

This is a timely one. I think we Christians seem to get caught up in the political winds as we try to advance our own agendas rather than to allow God to move in a way that He deems fit.

Lord, help us not to judge and condemn but add our prayers to those who live by Your Word.
