Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with bottomless trust:
“Through [Jesus] and for his name’s sake, we…call people…to the obedience that comes from faith.”
(Romans 1:5)
Please help me with this, Jesus.
I might be able to send people to this place of obedience
I might even be able to point the way
but it’s a little hard to call people
to someplace I’ve never been.
Nor are they likely to join me
if obedience is a place I only occasionally visit.
It had better be the place I live
the way I live
most of the time.
I know obedience doesn’t save me.
I’m saved by faith in You.
Period.
But You’re reminding me that if my faith in You is real
my obedience will follow.
If I’m just not willing
to go against my own preferences
to lose friends, if necessary
to pay some real prices
for You
Then the faith I profess
is bogus.
