Lazaroo – Tuesday, January 11, 2011

1 comment, Jan 11, 2011

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with bottomless trust:

“Because of my chains, most of the brothers in the Lord have been encouraged to speak the word of God more courageously and fearlessly.”
(Philippians 1:14)

This is pretty rare, Jesus.

When a guy gets thrown in prison for opening his mouth
most people try to avoid saying what he said.

But that’s not what happened here.

When they tried to stop Paul from spreading the good news about You

it didn’t intimidate them
it didn’t make them turn tail and run
it didn’t shut them up.

It fired them up!

Seeing the price Paul was willing pay put steel in their bones.
People who had been watching from the sidelines

left the stands
raced out on the field
and took Paul’s place.

That’s how I want to respond to adversity, LORD.

Every time Satan attacks –

rise up in me!

to take my obedience to the next level.

  1. Ken Ferry, D.A. Says:

Interesting, Steve, that you would post this Lazaroo today. On my way to work this morning, the words of a song on the radio prompted me to pray for God to constantly and continually turn up the fire in me. If I believe EVERYTHING in the Bible, that Jesus came so we may have a personal relationship with our Creator, that Jesus is the only way to have that relationship, and that Jesus is coming back – perhaps soon! – and that after that time it will be impossible for anyone else to take advantage of the offer He has held open for the past 2000 years, if I believe ALL of this, why would I not feel the urgency to get the word of this incredible, unique, limited-time offer out to as many people as humanly possible?

The field and the contest to which you make reference is not a game, but a battle, and the people along the sidelines are not fans, but the souls over whom this battle rages. If I claim to not be on the sidelines, then I must be in the battle. If I’m in the battle, for which side am I fighting?
