Lazaroo – Tuesday, April 21, 2009

“…a servant of Jesus Christ.”
(Jude 1:1)

Is this what You want me to be, Jesus – Your servant?

It doesn’t sound like a very important position…until I notice the hall of fame greats who called themselves by this “lowly” title.   People like:

Moses.
David.
Peter.
James.
John.
Paul.

To join them and qualify as Your servant I would have to:

Go where You go.
Do what You tell me to do.
Serve without needing or expecting thanks.
Serve You only.
Be treated the way You were – by Your friends…and Your enemies.
Serve You the way You serve Your Father…and me.

O God.

I am totally unworthy to be called Your servant.

But that is exactly what I long to be.

Linda – you’re right! David’s willingness to wait on God’s time and to serve others meanwhile is a little-recognized reason God called him a man after His own heart.

  2. Jeff Says:

Linda, your comment is timely. Not to give a commercial, but the series on NBC titled “Kings” is just that story of David set in a modern day kingdom. It is quite amazing to see how relevant and close to home this story can be.

  3. Linda Gant Says:

We studied in Bible study this morning about the young man, David, who was anointed to be king, but waited 22 years to be crowned. During that time he served his father, his brothers, and King Saul. To me, this was another fact about him that caused him to be known as, “a man after God’s own heart”. More amazing is the fact that our Jesus was a servant to everyone He was around, King Jesus. He is our Perfect Role-Model. Thank you for sharing God’s Word to all of us, everyday, in such a unique way.

  4. Steve Says:

Oh, wow, Jeff. You’ve nailed it, man. Not my idea. His.

  5. Jeff Says:

Jesus, let me be the servant that YOU want me to be, and not my own idea of what that servant should be.

  6. Steve Says:

I love your heart, John. So does Jesus.

  7. John Tevault Says:

Thank you Steve! once again you have struck me in the heart with something that gives me food for my soul. It is through lazaroo and the soul food I get from BTC, that commands me to keep seeking to be Jesus servant.
