Lazaroo – Friday, April 3, 2009

1 comment, Apr 03, 2009

“Faith and knowledge resting on the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time.”
(Titus 1:2)

I am still trying to come to grips with this powerful reality, Jesus:  That every ounce of my faith in You, every shred of my knowledge about You, rests on this hope-packed promise:

I am going to live forever.

This is a bedrock promise You made before You spoke the worlds into existence.

This is a promise backed up by who You are:  If You say it, You do it.

This changes everything.

It affects the way I think.  It drives my every decision – how I spend my time, where I invest my resources, what I do to develop my gifts, skills and abilities.

It utterly eliminates my fear of death.

Oh, God.

It utterly eliminates my fear of death.

The concept of eternity has influenced my thinking, too. When I was going through a tough time last year, I announced on my blog that my situation was not good, but I can put up with ANYTHING for fifty years. It sounds flippant, but I was serious. That is the hope we have where our lives here on Earth is just a drop in the bucket of the ocean of eternity that we have with our Creator!

Praise God for the proper governing of priorities!

AND, thanks to this Lazarroo for reminding me of that, which is helping me deal with something that FORMERLY started my weekend off with me being in a bad mood. I can feel that negativity slipping away with every keystroke!
