Lazaroo – Wednesday, March 24, 2010

1 comment, Mar 24, 2010

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with a heart eager to obey:

“Then the sailors said to each other, ‘Come, let us cast lots to find out who is responsible for this calamity.’ They cast lots and the lot fell on Jonah.”
(Jonah 1:7)

I don’t pretend to understand this, Jesus.

On the one hand, I know You can and will use anything to accomplish Your purpose –

even a bunch of dice-throwing, heathen sailors.

But there’s more to it than that.

Your people have cast lots to

reveal a single guilty soldier out of Saul’s entire army
determine where in the Promised Land Your people would live
show Your disciples which man should take the place of Judas, Your betrayer.

Your Word tells me every decision reached by casting lots

comes from You.

But something tells me the real wisdom comes from knowing when to cast lots

and when Your Spirit is prompting me to reach my decision another way.

    Amen and Amen Pastor !!

Maybe it’s my lack of faith, but letting big decisions rest on the roll of the dice…… just a little scary.
Seems like something the ungodly is more comfortable with than the church. I’ve seen people “roll the dice” to make some of the craziest decisions without relying on the wisdom of God’s word. Too scary for me. May the Lord speak to my heart if He should decide to use this method in my life!! May his good, perfect, and acceptable will, reign in all our lives. No matter how He decides to reveal it. May His still small voice become a loud speaker in our hearts that we never miss His call !!
