Lazaroo – Sunday, August 2, 2009

1 comment, Aug 02, 2009

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with burning zeal:

“What kind of man was it who came to meet you and told you this?”
(2 Kings 1:7)

What kind of person am I, Jesus?

Never mind my reputation with others.

What is my reputation with You?

I know that even now – this very moment – You are looking straight into my heart.

Is it pure?

Am I placing all of my trust in You?

Am I putting You first – above everyone and everything in my life?

Am I treating those around me with Your love, consideration and respect?

Have I truly forgiven from my heart those who have wronged me?

Am I diligently pursuing the work You have assigned me to do?

Am I – in Your wisdom and strength – making progress each day to become everything You created me to be?

Make it so, dear God!

Please.

Make it so.

This was an opportunity for some healthy self-examination and reflection. Communion presents an opportunity to stop and examine ourselves, but other than at that time, I probably don’t do it nearly enough. I guilt myself but I don’t stop and self-examine by talking to God like a friend. Thank you for this moment of pause.
