Lazaroo – Thursday, May 28, 2009

2 comments, May 28, 2009

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in holy fear:

“Therefore this is what the LORD says: ‘You will not leave the bed you are lying on. You will certainly die!’”
(2 Kings 1:4)

I am so thankful You didn’t speak these terrifying words to me, Jesus.

Yet.

But I know my time will come.

I don’t know when.  I don’t know where.  I don’t know how.

But You do.

You also know I don’t want to think about it.

But how can I live the way I should unless I face the fact that I will die?

O God – help me!

Grow me up.  Wise me up.  Mature me.

Rescue me from the colossal waste I make of every day I spend groping through the dense fog of denial.

Clear my sight to live each precious hour from sunrise to sunrise…

     wholeheartedly, unapologetically…

          for You.

It is funny, some of us have to think about death in that way to get to life. However, when we finally get to life, we no longer need to think about death. That is a comfort while we are on the path to life.
