Lazaroo – Thursday, July 1, 2010

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with zealous determination:
“…you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God.”
(1 Thessalonians 1:9)
That’s what heathens have to do, Jesus –
give up their idols.
But sometimes I think the idols they have to give up are the easiest kinds.
Their idols are made of wood, metal, clay or stone.
All they have to do is no longer bow down to them
quit sacrificing to them
stop praying to them.
But the idols that tempt me are much more subtle.
They’re the people and things in my life that gradually become more important to me
than You.
I don’t exactly “pray,” “sacrifice” or “bow down” to them.
It’s just that when I have to decide
whether to enjoy them
or You
to do what they want
or what You want
I choose them.
Which makes them my idols.
That sickens me, God!
Next time…
I choose You.

Lady B. Says:
Steve, I pray that everytime it will get easier to make the right choice and Jesus is at the top of that list. We all have certain idols that we need to put to rest. Remember it’s all about choices. Do we really want to please God or Man?
Jul 01, 2010, 3:10 amGod always allows us to make our own choices. But in idol worshiping, there are always consequences!!
