Lazaroo – Friday, October 19, 2012
Oct 19, 2012 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with no-holds-barred surrender:
“And the LORD God commanded the man, ‘You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil…’”
(Genesis 2:16)
Oh, Jesus.
“…any tree.”
So with that limitless number of trees to choose from –
apple trees
orange trees
date palms
plum trees
walnut trees
pineapple trees
pecan trees
strawberry trees 😉
nectarine trees
pear trees
almond trees
peach trees
chestnut trees
persimmon trees
and a couple thousand others –
which tree’s fruit were they dying to taste?
Right.
The one You told them not to eat.
Why?
What is there about being told I
can’t
shouldn’t
mustn’t
that makes me want to do it?
Easy answer?
“The devil.”
But the truth runs deeper:
my desire to run my own life
even though every time I do so…
I run it straight into the ground.
