Lazaroo – Friday, January 20, 2012
Jan 20, 2012 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud…with a shudder:
“This is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘I am very jealous for Jerusalem and Zion…’”
(Zechariah 1:14)
I’m sorry, Jesus.
I forget that You’re jealous.
I tend to think all jealousy is sin.
A lot of it is!
When I’m jealous of someone who has
a bigger car
more luxurious home
more money
I’m sinning.
I’m either unwilling to work hard enough to earn those things for myself
or refusing to be content with what You’ve given me.
But there’s another kind of jealousy that isn’t sin:
Yours.
In fact, jealousy isn’t an emotion You sometimes feel.
It’s such a fundamental, defining characteristic of who You are
that Your very name is “Jealous.”
You love me so much that You gave Your life to rescue me
to make me Yours.
But if I would ever, ever, ever turn my back on You
I would be making a huge mistake.
