Lazaroo – Saturday, August 18, 2012
Aug 18, 2012 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with a trusting heart and an open mind:
“‘If his offering is a goat, he is to present it before the LORD. He is to lay his hand on its head and slaughter it in front of the Tent of Meeting. Then Aaron’s sons shall sprinkle its blood against the altar on all sides.”
(Leviticus 3:12-13)
This is a hard one, Jesus.
I’m so thankful that Your death on the cross
ended this slaughter of innocent animals!
But for thousands of years
Your people sacrificed countless numbers of animals
at Your command.
Why?
I trust You.
I’m not questioning Your
kindness
goodness
mercy
fairness.
I’m only seeking to understand.
Was it to remind us
that all people and animals are Yours –
and You have the right to do with them
whatever You choose?
that You’re worthy of any sacrifice
any person can make?
Was it to graphically, inescapably demonstrate how serious it is
when I disobey You?
