Lazaroo – Tuesday, July 24, 2012
Jul 24, 2012 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with unvarnished sincerity:
“If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar…”
(1 John 1:10)
You’re calling me out, Jesus
looking me straight in the eye
unblinking
naming me…
a sinner.
No varnish –
no politically correct language
no references to my difficult childhood
no excuses because of my multiple handicaps
no blame being shifted to somebody else’s shoulders
no attempt to sugarcoat it.
Frankly, there aren’t many people talking like that, these days.
It’s almost as though everybody’s trying to make guilty people
feel not so guilty.
But You don’t seem to have that problem.
You know my only hope is to confess my sin
so You can forgive it
to forsake my sin
so You can do all those good things for me
You’ve been longing to do.
So… no.
I’m not going to call You a liar.
Please be merciful to me…
a sinner.
