Lazaroo – Thursday, May 7, 2009

“This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.”
(Matthew 1:18)

LORD, You amaze me.

You predicted Your Son’s virgin birth 700 years before it happened.

Seven centuries passed.

35 generations came and went.

Millions of babies were born in the usual way…grew old…and died.

Almost everyone forgot Your promise to send the Messiah.  Of those who remembered, most of them shrugged it off as mere wishful thinking.

Only a tiny handful kept the faith.

Then it happened.

And You rocked the world to its very foundations!

You’ve made other predictions, Jesus – some of them almost as startling as Your virgin birth.

Please count me among the tiny handful who intend to keep the faith till the day every single one of Your promises is fulfilled.

I heard the same stuff growing up, Jeff. You’re right, it’s easy to get cynical. And then you stumble across a verse that says, “With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” (2 Peter 3:8)

You swallow hard and say, “Okay. I get it. I believe! Please, please…help my unbelief.”
