Lazaroo – Sunday, August 29, 2010

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with burning zeal:

“Now then, be strong and brave, for Saul your master is dead, and the house of Judah has anointed me king over them.”
(2 Samuel 2:7)

David had quite a challenge in front of him, Jesus.

His country had just suffered a horrific defeat in battle.
The only king they had ever known had been killed in the fight.
The vast majority of his people were now following a different leader.
Only one little sliver of the people – his relatives – were backing David.
Now he was facing more than seven years of war against the rest of Israel.

There was nothing about this picture that gave him reason to believe he would succeed.

Except one.

You.

It was You who sent the prophet Samuel to anoint David king over Israel.

That was all the encouragement David needed.

When I’m sure it’s You

that’s all I need.
