Lazaroo – Tuesday, July 30, 2013

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with God-given perspective:

“Then David rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David. He had reigned forty years over Israel—seven years in Hebron and thirty-three in Jerusalem.”
(1 Kings 2:10-11)

Those weren‘t the only seasons of David’s life, were they, Jesus?

There were the early years in his dad’s house, tending sheep.

Then You anointed him next King of Israel
while the jealous, increasingly unstable Saul was still king.

Awkward.

During that season

David killed Goliath
led Israel’s army into battle
soothed Saul with his harp

Then he was a fugitive, hunted till Saul’s death.

Looking back, I can recognize seasons in my life, too.

By Your grace, there are more to come.

Unlike David, I don’t expect that one of them will be as King of Israel.

But the season I will share with David
is the one I most anticipate:

eternity in heaven with You.
