Lazaroo – Sunday, June 27, 2010

1 comment, Jun 27, 2010

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, your heart overflowing with gratitude:

“And this is my prayer…that you may be…filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ – to the glory and praise of God.”
(Philippians 1:9-11)

So, Jesus…

righteousness has fruit.

Doing what You call me to do
saying what You call me to say
thinking the way You call me to think

pays off.

And not just a little.

You want me to be filled with this one-of-a-kind fruit that comes only through You

that causes the people who see these marvelous things happening to me

to worship You for Your stunning generosity, goodness and love.

People say doing the right thing is its own reward.

But it isn’t.
Not always.

Sometimes it blows up in my face

until with exquisite timing and power You step in –
whether now on earth or later in heaven –

and make living Your way

the wisest thing I could possibly do.

I believe we have the power to be righteous everyday. Because we are striving everyday to be more and more Christ-like. In Paul’s letters to the Philippians, he expressed the importance of focusing on the right target in our Christian life. “I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus,” he said Philippians
3:14. Paul used the term “goal” in an illustration of an athlete running a race. Interestingly, the same word was also used of a target for shooting arrows. In both cases, the prospect of winning depends on being focused. For the believer that focus should be a lifetime pursuit of be-
coming more like our Savior Jesus Christ(Romans 8:28-29; Gal. 5:22-23). The bigger questions to ask yourself are these: What is your focus? Are you preoccupied with getting ahead and making life more comfortable? If you’re
a true believer, the right target to shoot for is to become more like the Son of God (2 Cor. 3:18). We should make sure daily that we are aiming at the right target which is
walking in Righteousness!! To make the most of your life make God’s goals your goals.
