Lazaroo – Friday, December 11, 2009

1 comment, Dec 11, 2009

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, from the depths of your soul:

“And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight.”
(Philippians 1:9)

That’s my prayer too, Jesus.

My brand of love is so inferior to Yours.

When I think of the way You love me –

not holding my past against me
not holding the shortcomings of my present against me!

giving me chance after chance after chance
even though I’ve done so little with the chances you’ve already given me

not overlooking my warts, quirks and idiosyncrasies
but actually loving my warts, quirks and idiosyncrasies.

Wow.

That’s love.

I want to love You back like that!

Except…

You don’t have

a sinful past
shortcomings to forgive
warts, quirks or idiosyncrasies.

How in the world can I ever love You the way You love me?

Unless…

when I love the deeply flawed people in my life this way

I’m loving You.

    Steve,

You have no way of knowing how incredibly painful this truth is to me this morning. Just the same, thank you for your faithfulness to God’s word and, I suspect, His perfect timing.
