Lazaroo – Wednesday, June 3, 2009

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with utter abandon:

“Everyone whose heart God had moved – prepared to go.”
(Ezra 1:5)

You’ve moved my heart, Jesus.

And not just once.

You’ve moved my heart again and again – more times than I can count.

But I haven’t always responded.

Sometimes I’ve thought about what You wanted me to do…weighed what it might cost me…and put it off.

I fully intended to obey You.

I told myself I would get around to it.  I even took a few beginning steps in the right direction.

But once I had put it off, it was easier not to do it at all.

So I didn’t.

Ever.

Sometimes I still think about it….but my heart no longer moves me.

You’ve moved on.

Oh God.

Don’t leave me with a dead heart!

Please.

Move my heart once again.

And this time…

…I won’t put it off.

But God, if You’re here (and why would I be talking to You if You weren’t), why should I want to go THERE?
