Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with earnest desire:

“Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her.”
(Hosea 2:14)

Sometimes that’s what it takes, Jesus.

As long as I’m around everyone else

distracted

it’s easy to lose perspective
forget You are my God –

the Source of everything in my life
that is good.

Sometimes You have to get me away from everybody
everything else.

Sometimes You have to draw me – by whatever means necessary –

out into the desert
put me in hot, dry, lonely places

so I can come back to my senses
start paying attention to Your quiet voice within me.

Only then can I hear clearly enough to realize

how tender are Your words to me
how great Your plans for me
how much love You have to give me

if only I will listen carefully…

and obey.
