Stay alert, as you pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo:

“Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.”
(2 Timothy 1:14)

You have made a good deposit in me, Jesus!

The salvation of my unworthy soul
Your Word planted in me
Your very Presence in my life.

But now You’re telling me not to take Your deposit for granted.

You’re reminding me:

From the moment I gave myself to You
I picked up a dedicated, relentless, malevolent
sworn enemy:

Satan.

His gun doesn’t shoot blanks.
His goal is not to wound me.

It’s to:

steal
kill
destroy.

I can’t afford to go around blithely unaware of his existence
blaming all his attacks on luck, coincidence, happenstance.

I’ve got to be on guard
constantly vigilant.

But not in my strength alone!

Only with Your help, Holy Spirit –

my Indweller
my inner Prompter
my closest Friend.
