Lazaroo – Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Open your heart and pour out the words of this Lazaroo aloud to God:

“…the sound doctrine that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God…”
(1 Timothy 1:10-11)

“Doctrine.”

That word sounds so stiff and formal, Jesus…

harsh…threatening…restrictive.

But it’s not.

First, because you identify it as “sound” doctrine –

not the manipulative set of rules some leaders create to control people
not the spooky craziness others invent out of their overworked imaginations

but solid, proven principles that come straight from Your heart
bedrock guidelines that have stood the test of time
backed up by Your Word.

And even more, because this sound doctrine conforms to Your “glorious gospel” –

the freest, happiest life-giving good news ever offered to the human race

that because I have put my faith in You alone

You’re not mad at me
You’re no longer counting even one of my sins against me.

Any sound set of truths that conforms to that

is my kind of doctrine.

And happy is he who has had his sins cast as far as the east is from the west by this glorious gospel !! Bring on the doctrine, for in it the truth is contained,by which our lives are changed and our minds transformed that we may no longer chase after the things of this world. Rather, our eyes shall glance at the things of this world and our gaze shall be on Heavenly things. Pastor Steve preach the word,in season and out of season that those who would listen may glorify Him who has called us. To Him be the praise and glory and honor forever and ever. Amen and Amen.
