Lazaroo – Tuesday, August 2, 2011

Be willing for God to open your mind, as you pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo:

“Solomon sent this message to Hiram king of Tyre: ‘Send me cedar logs as you did for my father David when you sent him cedar to build a palace to live in.’”
(2 Chronicles 2:3)

You gave Solomon unprecedented wisdom, Father.

What can I learn from this?

When Solomon needed cedar, he didn’t go to just anyone –
he went to a friend of his father.

He went to a friend of his father.

Instead of abandoning the personal relationships his dad had formed

he strengthened them.

Instead of rejecting the old ways

he learned from them.

Instead of reinventing the wheel

he made it run faster.

Instead of starting over from scratch

he built on the foundation his father had laid.

In our rush to do our own thing
my generation has a terrible time with this, LORD.

Please, Jesus.

Give me the wisdom of Solomon.

…and not just our biological fathers, but our spiritual elders as well. Maybe more so! And may that Solomon-like wisdom show us how, with flawed human hands, to build aright on a foundation laid by other flawed human hands.
