This 1on1 time with Jesus every day – who do you think it’s for?

How about if we let Jesus answer that? Here’s what He says, in Matthew 9:13 –

“I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Now, you might be the exception. But chances are, you’re not. Most of us who make 1on1 time with Jesus our highest daily priority don’t do it because we’re so holy.

We crave our time alone with Jesus because we are so deeply flawed. We need Him. Desperately. There is so much pent up inside us that we can’t wait to share it with Him. We absolutely HAVE to hear from Him through His Word and through the whisper of His Spirit deep within us.

Again, that’s not necessarily true of everybody. No doubt you can find a handful of people who love to bask in His Presence because they’re so much like Him.

Unfortunately, most of us are not. But we want to be. I do. Don’t you?

Down deep, you really long to fulfill God’s purpose for you, to be everything He created you to be.

So that’s why – sooner or later – you’re going to end up hanging out with Him every single day. No matter what. Every chance you get.

And here’s the stunner, the thing that’s going to absolutely blow your mind: When you come to Him all broken and busted, your sins hanging off you in tatters – you know what He’s going to do? He’s going to wrap you up in a big old bear hug of forgiveness and start patching you up.

So HELP me, He will. He will! That’s just Who He Is. That’s how much He loves you, warts and all. Yeah, you. Whether you’re one of His holy ones, or whether – like most of us way too much of the time – you’re a holy terror.

So hey – don’t let all that junk you’ve done rob you of the healing you can find nowhere in heaven or earth but Him. Instead, let your shortcomings drive you into His arms. Daily. Deeply.

Because if you don’t stay 1on1 with Jesus? Nothing else matters.

My prayer is that before long, these words might perfectly describe Jesus’ 1on1 time with you:

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
