Lazaroo – Friday, August 28, 2009
Aug 28, 2009 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with outrageous adoration:
“How like a widow is she, who once was great among the nations!”
(Lamentations 1:1)
Sometimes I forget, Jesus.
The world wasn’t always this way.
Not so long ago
the countries we now look down on with scorn
were the most feared kingdoms on earth
the most powerful nations of today
didn’t even exist.
Nor is it a mystery why the mighty have fallen.
Some of them
ignored You
mocked You
turned their backs on You
or simply forgot to acknowledge You.
But You rule the nations!
You raise them up to accomplish Your purposes
then bring them down low when their hearts grow proud –
even while they blindly pound their chests with overweening pride.
O, LORD!
May we who cry out to You when we are small, defenseless and helpless
refuse to forget You
after You have stooped so low to make us great.
